non black people wash their hair everyday ???? What for ? That actually surprises me.HIGH SCHOOL IN A FUCKING NUTSHELL…
^^ The one’s I know who do tend to have really oily hair. Like oily in the sense that at the end of the day, you can see the hair weighed down by the oil. As for others without that issue, I have no idea.
Washing hair every day does seem excessive. I washed fully every two weeks when I had dreads (rinsed in between) and wash it fully once a week now that I’m all natural. That shouldn’t be disgusting.
Yeah I’m Native and I have the greasiest hair ever. I wash my hair everyday and sometimes I rinse it out during the day if I have to. My mom makes jokes about it being because we are Mi’kmaq too…and you know we eat traditionally ate tons of fish and seafood - so it makes us oily.
I’ve never heard of anyone making a big deal about not washing their hair every day. I guess I can’t say much though since a large majority of my friends are from “ethnic minorities”. My cousin who is half Mi’kmaq and half Irish washes her hair maybe 3 times a week because it’s so dry, thick and coarse. I think everyone will take care of their hair differently.
It’s not good to wash your hair everyday.
I never did wash it everyday, maybe every other day at MOST.I have to wash my hair everyday or else it gets greasy and dandruff. FML, I wish I could get away with washing it every other day.
When my hair was really long I used to wash it every other day just because it would get dry on the ends and It needed more moisture.
I only recently (within the last year) stopped washing my hair every day. I now wash it maybe three times a week. I used to think it was too greasy not to wash it every day, but it’s gotten a lot healthier and looks its best the second day. My hair has less split ends and stuff. I’ve also noticed that it’s a lot less frizzy and looks nice and smooth now. So basically, everyone has different habits and they know what’s best for themselves.
Have we been over this topic on this blog? Oh, I think we have…and yes, it IS annoying when your white (or non-ethnic) friends act grossed out because you don’t wash your hair (or shower completely-more on that in a sec) EVERY SINGLE DAY.
As for the daily showers: of course I shower daily right now when it’s 104 outside and I’m getting hot and sweaty daily. I also shower if I swim, or if I work up a sweat dancing or exercising. Duh. But in the winter my skin will dry out, itch, peel, and flake if I wash too much. So I “bucket bathe” for the most part, lather on body oil, and pray for warmer weather. Guess this year I got what I asked for; it’s been over 100 for two weeks I think and August is still to come.
