To the great dismay of potato chip, french fry and mashed potato lovers everywhere, this new study says, “For every additional daily serving of potatoes people ate, they gained more than 1 1/4 pounds over a four-year period.”

you will never take my potatoes from me. you will pry them from my cold, dead, fatty hands.

1 1/4 lbs over FOUR YEARS? Worth it. Pass the mashed potatoes to me, haters.

This sounds like WONDERFUL information for moms of picky eaters who are trying to get enough calories into growing kids, for people undergoing medical treatment that causes them to need a soft, bland food or who need an additional source of calories that might make them feel good (potatoes are “comfort food” for many people), and you know what else? I’ve not met many greatly obese Irish farmers, and they LOAD UP on the potatoes. So…bite me. We will continue to grow and eat potatoes (in old tires, no less!), as well as vast quantities of sweet potatoes (I know, totally different, but still calorie laden and delicious).
You know what else? I’ve lost 5 sizes eating potatoes whenever I damn well feel like it over the past 4 years. Bite me on the other side, pseudo-science.
